"Is the Sri Chinmoy Center a cult? Is it harmful?

This Yahoo message board offers a meeting place for those who have been affected by the Sri Chinmoy Center. There is no official point of view and no official group since members come and go. A variety of views and opinions are expressed here by ex-disciples, family members or those with friends still in the group. There is a remarkable commonality in the themes which have emerged.

These messages form compelling reading. They are the previously unheard voices of ex-disciples sharing their experiences, finding old friends, and moving toward wholeness.

This forum brings to light the non public face of the Sri Chinmoy Center. Sri Chinmoy himself has not responded to any of the allegations voiced here. This site is not for his PR material or expressions of devotion from his followers.

You will find some interesting articles by clicking on the "Photos" link to the left. We hope you enjoy this site and find the information useful. Please observe these guidelines when posting.

1. Do not use another individuals name without their permission, unless they are a public figure. Initials may be appropriate in some cases.

2. Do not write anything which is untrue. Hearsay should be noted as such. If information is given which is unflattering to the image of a public figure, it is not defamatory as long as it is true and in the public interest to reveal.

3. Do not use foul language or insult others no matter how heated a debate may become.

4. For your protection it is advised that you do not post messages from workplace computers without permission."
